outh Gyeongsang Province announced on the 4th that the Gyeongnam delegation consisting of seven defense companies in the province will participate in the Saudi WDS 2024 International Defense Exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, until the 8th.

The Saudi WDS 2024 Defense Exhibition is the largest defense exhibition in the Middle East, with 800 companies from 45 countries, including Korea, the United States, France, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and China, participating this year, and more than 100,000 people are expected to visit.

The Middle East market is in high demand for defense, and Middle East and African countries are interested in K-radiation due to the instability of the Middle East situation, such as the Israel-Hamas war, which is expected to accelerate the entry of companies in the Middle East defense market.

At this exhibition, five defense companies in the province, including system companies Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean, SNT Dynamics and Hyundai Rotem, will operate their own halls.

South Gyeongsang Province and South Gyeongsang Province Techno Park will operate South Gyeongsang Province Bangsan Public Relations Center, which will involve small and medium-sized defense companies in the province, Suoptix, Changmin Techron, Woori DS, Neo Health Technology, Woori HQ, SJ System, and Kencore Aerospace.

During the exhibition, it plans to expand opportunities to build defense networks and find new buyers by participating in customized export consultations between companies (B2B) and consulting major state-run and private defense companies such as Saudi royal security guards and government official agency interviews.

"Through participation in the exhibition, we will actively support small and medium-sized companies in the defense industry in South Gyeongsang Province to explore the Middle East," said Ryu Myung-hyun, director of the industry bureau in South Gyeongsang Province. "We will make efforts to promote the excellent capabilities and technology of South Gyeongsang defense companies to the world."

Meanwhile, Gyeongnam Province plans to expand its support to target overseas defense markets, including support for defense small and medium-sized enterprises that are difficult to develop overseas markets, Vietnam and the UAE defense delegation in the second half of the year, and participation in the Poland International Defense Exhibition, centered on the defense export support group in Gyeongnam Techno Park.
