Gyeongsangnam-do Deputy Economic Governor Kim Byeong-gyu visited Aichi Prefecture, Japan on the 26th and signed an agreement for friendly exchange and mutual cooperation with Aichi Prefecture Governor Hideaki Omura.

 

At the bilateral exchange agreement signing ceremony held at the Wakamiyanomori Guesthouse in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, about 150 people, including representatives from host Japan, Korea, Canada, France, and other countries around the world, including aerospace companies, attended to sign the agreement. The event was held in conjunction with the ANAC (Aichi-Nagoya Aerospace Consortium) reception celebrating the successful launch of ‘AeroMart Nagoya 2023’ and served as an opportunity to discuss the direction of development of the global aerospace industry.

 

At the event, Gyeongsangnam-do and Aichi Prefecture decided to establish a close friendly relationship based on mutual respect and trust, and promised to strengthen linkages and cooperation in various fields, including the aerospace industry and support for startups.

 

They also agreed to promote private exchanges in a wide range of fields for the development of both regions.

 

At this event, Vice Governor Kim Byeong-gyu said, “Gyeongsangnam-do and Aichi Prefecture have similar industrial structures and commonalities as clusters of manufacturing industries such as the aerospace industry and automobiles.” He added, “In particular, more than 50% of the aerospace industry in both countries is concentrated. “As a core base for the aerospace industry, we will maximize synergies in the aerospace industry through cooperation between the two regions,” he suggested.

 

In addition, information on infrastructure construction and operation in both regions is provided in the field of startup support (startups), focusing on STATION AI, Japan's largest startup facility scheduled to open in October next year by Aichi Prefecture, and G-SPACE, a startup base for each of the three major regions that Gyeongsangnam-do is promoting. and requested to revitalize exchanges in the startup field through mutual use of facilities.

 

In response, Aichi Prefecture Governor Hideaki Omura said, “If we cooperate on issues of common interest based on mutual respect and trust, it will be a good opportunity for both regions to prosper together.”

 

Prior to the exchange agreement signing ceremony, on the 26th, the Gyeongnam delegation, including the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, visited the ‘Nagoya Airport Flight Research Base’, a major facility of the Japan National Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and toured the main facilities.

 

The Nagoya Airport Flight Research Base is a facility responsible for the core of Japan's flight experiment research. It was established and has been operating since 2011, and is promoting research and development and verification testing of high-speed and high-altitude flight aircraft.

 

The Gyeongnam delegation proposed that once the Aerospace Administration, which will be in charge of Korea's aerospace policy, is established, it will continue to cooperate with major aerospace organizations such as Japan's National Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on the aerospace industry of both countries.

 

In addition, Deputy Governor Kim Byeong-gyu visited the Aichi Prefectural Office and met with Aichi Deputy Governor Shinichiro Furumoto to discuss the establishment of the Korea Aerospace Administration and the creation of a space industry cluster, the current status and development direction of Gyeongnam's future air transportation (AAM) industry, and Gyeongnam's startups. They explained support plans and agreed to continue exchanges and cooperation between the two regions.

 

Then, on the 27th, the Gyeongnam delegation visited the booths of participating companies in the province at the ‘AeroMart Nagoya 2023’, a world-class aviation expo event, and encouraged the companies.

 

The AeroMart event is a global aviation expo event hosted by France's BCI Aerospace, a business matching agency in the aerospace field, where the world's major aircraft companies and buyers gather for export, investment, and information exchange. About 18 people will participate in this 'AeroMart Nagoya 2023' event. About 250 companies from around the world participated.
